To protect pillows and blankets from wear and tear, there are blanket and pillowcases. In order to prolong the life of the mattress, slide sheets were invented.
This is an additional top layer to the main mattress. Why is it needed? At least in order to increase the wear resistance of the mattress and protect it from pollution. Sometimes sliding sheets manual handling is used when it is necessary to combine two mattresses into one bed. And some types of mattress toppers create an excellent thermal insulation effect, preventing heat loss. But in order for the purchased accessory to contribute to good sleep, you must be able to choose it correctly. To do this, you need to pay attention to various criteria: the types of slide sheets and its dimensions, the materials of the cover and filler, as well as the type of attachment to the mattress.
Protection against dirt and wear
Slide sheets are usually the simplest, thinnest and cheapest. Outwardly, they resemble thick sheets attached to the mattress with elastic bands. They are bought when the task is to protect the mattress from dirt, wear and external damage.
It is important that they can be used not only for an orthopedic mattress, but also as a sofa cover. Sometimes (and for someone all the time) the sofa serves as a sleeping place, and in order to protect it from pollution or damage, and to make sleeping on it more comfortable, a protective mattress pad is used.
Products of this type are easy to care for and do not require much storage space.
Measurements
To determine what size mattress pad is right for you, you should measure the width and length of the bed at the extreme points. The parameters of the mattress and the usual protective mattress cover should match as much as possible.
