In the UK, the state provides people with medical care. If you live in the UK permanently, you are registered in the nearest surgery. Doctors are divided into GP (general practitioners) and specialists (surgeon, ophthalmologist, ENT, etc.). If you feel bad, you go to a GP who will prescribe a treatment or refer you to a specialist. The main problem of the British is the shortage of doctors. People have to wait for a longtime, or to go to private medical centers. That’s why so many British like to use non-traditional medicine.
